Elections: I dunno. It seems like every large scale politician is really only concerned with reelection. They dont really give a hoot about how you feel, what you care for or what. They will say anything they can just to get your vote. Term Limits is a great book that deals with this topic. | That is why either they care about gas prices or they go, I think that's a fair way to do it.
And I've heard some people say "well there isn't anything they can do" Really? That what you really think? Because our ENTIRE foreign policy revolves around oil. Our ENTIRE foreign policy revoles around oil. You fail there and you've essentially just squandered all the billions the state department spends.
I know I'm being a tad dramatic to prove a point, but my point still stands. My safety is #1 and my pocketbook is #2. I feel safe so long as Bush as CiC so guess how I'm voting come mid-terms. |
I agree, in theory; either they care about the problem, or they arent reelected. The problem is this; they can say anything they want when it comes election time. People look at their stances on issues and say 'Wow he cares for the same thing I do' and vote for them. After they are in office, it doesnt matter what they do. We as a people are too ignorant and obsorbed in our own lives to double check what exactly those people are doing with the power we gave them. Example; Kerry said that he was comitted to national defense despite the fact that he had voted against many bills that better enabled (either through money, equipment, etc.) those very people he claimed to support to do their jobs.
This kind of say one thing and do another is the very thing I am talking about. And I dont think it is isolated on one side or the other, all are equally guilty.
What are you talking about as far as foreign policy? Yeah, our foreign policy dictates how we deal with other nations; diplomaticly, militarily, and economically. But it is not like there are really any changes that can be made. (If there were, wouldnt they have been made already??) Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean, but I dont think there really is anything that can be done as far as foreign stuff. (Save for conserving, and working to restore refineries, etc.)
I agree, I do feel safer with Bush as CiC. Whose gonna be on the ballot next election? Hopefully, one much like him.
