I believe that the Military should be envolved further in schools. The cadet programs are becoming too much like a slacker class. I want the JROTC program to go back to basic. Learning how to build a shelter, military history, shooting skills, tours and classes about military weapons and vehicals. When I was in High School, my JROTC program kicked @$$. My Senior Army instructor was a former US Special Forces member that was combat in Vietnam. He spoke the truth about the military. We had a Ranger Team. Repelling, River Crossing, Driil team, Honor guard, and rifle/pistol shooting. When won the gold and had fun. Toured Military Southern Command. Went to the Airforce bases in FLA. Got to go on US Coastguard ships during missions. It was great. America is losing it touch with it's rich past. Defense didn't rest on the government. It rested on the shoulders of it's civilian population. Shooting needs to be re-introduced as a High School sport in many parts of the country. Good Soldiers come from those that had a outdoor life style. Your Snipers, Rangers, Special Forces, and Infantry come from what I call the "Good Old Boy" style of person. Those that go hunting every fall. Camping with the Boy Scouts. and so on. Start looking at the lives of those that are great warriors. And you'll see that they all of a different mind set.
