| The Kidd was basically a convenially powered Virginia class guided missile cruiser, one of the most powerful non carrier warships in the US navy at the time. The Virginia was nuclear powered. The Kidd lost the nuke powerplant but gained a helo hanger and landing pad. The Kidd class was created by marying up the Virginia's weapons and systems to a Sprance class destoyer's hull and propulsion. |
