You guys are talking about Sq meetings and "we do what is planned" like it is nothing! Sorry, I'm starting to feel old, and like I have been in CAP too long again....it's one of the phases, I'll get over it sooner or later.
Ok, so most CAP Squadrons run from about an hour and a half to two hours. Within that time is Opening, then whatever that Squadron has set for that week. As noted above, most Sq's have a set standard for each week, i.e. 1st week or month- ES, 2nd week- PT...etc, then closing. Outside of the Sq is weekend activities. These activities are held at group, wing, regional, and national level. However, you will find that there are more group and wing activities available to most cadets- some activities above group have prerequisites. Although not every wing is the same, most activities offered are Basic Cadet Schools, Airman Training School, NonCommissioned Officers School/Academy, and Emergency Services stuff. There are other activities like Air Shows, but they are not considered leadership training...not in the sense of learning at a academy type activity.
Most Wings and Regions have Encampments once a year (some also have winter encampments) it is designed to train cadet's in a Air Force and very structured environment, but it is also fun. Beyond that would be National Activities varying from learning how to fly to a Pararescue Introduction...although that is a understatement.
So yeah, we have training opportunities all year 'round lol.
