Fairfax County will donate $100,000 to the Pentagon Memorial Fund today, becoming the first Virginia county to help pay for a memorial for the 184 people killed at the building in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The $22 million Sept. 11 memorial is under construction on a 1.9-acre site in Arlington County where hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
It is scheduled to open in September. The fund has raised $16 million, spokesman Jerry Mullins said.
